The Hawkeye State

What a week we have had. Cody is such a trooper - he really has been a great little baby during this whole hurricane known as the move up north. Speaking of which, I find it ironic that I have been fairly nervous about moving to Iowa because of the tornadoes, and as soon as we leave the sunshine state it is pummeled with them during a hurricane! Meanwhile, the weather up here is gorgeous. We send our friends and loved ones T&P during Fay - stay safe and dry! If it gets too wet, consider the hawkeye state!

Scott started work yesterday...looking great in his dress clothes. Last company allowed shorts and t'shirts... this one, well, not as liberal! He loves it already.

Cody and I went out yesterday and found a home. We got so incredibly lucky that I truly believe someone is looking out for us. Because of the floods here, people have been displaced. There are no rentals to be found -anywhere. And if they come on the market, they are immediately taken off. We have the added liability of two furry creatures who look small but pack a lot of stinky punch. I did some talking to some local people, found a realtor who just got a house to rent out, and we showed up and got it. I think it was Cody's cute little loveability that got us in!

It is a hundred years old - and I don't mean that it is old. It is antique and owned by the sweet 83 year old woman who is spending today grouting the bathroom for us. Herself! 83 years old and taking care of the house she spent years renovating! Then she is heading back to Chicago to be with the man she loves.... what spunk!

Cody and I go today to sign the lease and get the keys. I can't wait to get out of this hotel!

Here is a picture of Cody taken yesterday while we sat in the park and had our lunch. They have a park just a couple of blocks from the house that has a bandstand and play music during the day! We spent a good hour listening to the music and watching the squirrels. Which, by the way, are 10 times bigger than the squirrels in Florida!

He is holding his favorite monkey blanket - received as a gift from Rudy and Dar. Thanks!! He loves it!
